Abstract: Ink-jet technique has the advantages of simplicity, cost-effectiveness and high spatial resolution. Besides the inkjet printer, the technique has many potential applications in freeforming, microfabrication, MEMS, biochip and materials synthesis. The pioneer works in these fields were reviewed, and an 8-nozzle combinatorial inkjet synthesizer developed in our group was demonstrated, its performance and applications were also discussed.

Key words: nkjet, freeforming, microfabrication, parallel synthesis
