Metal/Dielectric Multilayers Filter to Suppress the Slow Component of the Scintillation Light in BaF2 Crystal

Abstract: On the basis of the difference of the emission bands between the fast and slow components in BaF2
crystal, the metal/dielectric multilayers filter with several periods of Al2O3/MgF2/Al/MgF2… was designed and developed in order
to suppress the slow component of the scintillation light in BaF2. The results from transmission, emission and decay time spectrum show that
the film can increase about 80 times of the ratio of the intensities of the fast emission to the slow one and can widen the application field of BaF2
scintillation crystal in high count rate experiments.
